Welcome to St Petersburg, City of the Tsars! Upon arrival you will be met at St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free to relax or independently explore. If you'd like to book any additional excursions in St Petersburg, such has a canal cruise or a night at the ballet, this can be arranged in advance upon request.

Enjoy a day of guided sightseeing in St Petersburg, the Jewel in Russia’s Imperial Crown. Today remnants of the city’s grandiose past can be seen in its beautiful historic centre; made up of a series of canals this UNESCO World Heritage site is dotted with elegant baroque bridges, impressive rococo architecture and spectacular palaces. Drive along the famed Nevsky Prospekt, stopping to see the magnificent St Isaac's Cathedral and The Bronze Horseman before visiting Peter and Paul Fortress, a former political prison. Within its grounds is the SS Peter and Paul Cathedral, an 18th century church that houses the tombs of the Romanov Tsars. With its marbled columns, amazing chandeliers and incredible carved and gilded icons, the church creates a reverent setting for the tombs of the Romanov monarchs
This afternoon enjoy a guided tour of the world-famous Hermitage Museum in the beautiful Winter Palace. Made up of five interlinked buildings, the museums boasts one of the world’s largest art collections, with exhibits ranging from the Stone Age to present day, including works by Rembrandt, Picasso, Da Vinci and more.

Peterhof or Catherine Palace
St Petersburg - Moscow. Explore one of the lavish palaces of the tsars on a guided tour today. Visit Peterhof Palace and its beautiful gardens on the Gulf of Finland in the summer (May to mid October) or Catherine Palace at Tsarskoe Selo in the winter (mid October to April).
Often referred to as the 'Russian Versailles’, Palatial Peterhof is the former summer residence of Peter the Great and Peterhof Park is famous for its array of magnificent gold fountains, with highlights including the Grand Cascade, which comprises 64 different fountains and over 200 bronze statues.
Originally commissioned as a modest building for the wife of Peter the Great, Catherine Palace was later transformed by their daughter into the blue-and-white fairytale palace it is today. Located on the tsar’s suburban estate - Tsarkoe Selo, the palace provides a fascinating insight into the history and luxurious lifestyles of the tsars. The highlight of this beautiful palace is its spectacular Amber room, bedecked in gold and amber.
Returning to the city centre visit the exquisite Church On Spilled Blood boarding the high speed train to Moscow. Reaching the capital in just 4 hours, you'll be met at the station and transferred to your hotel for the night.

Moscow city tour
Discover the highlights of Moscow today. With your guide take the metro to legendary Red Square for a walking tour. At the southern end of the square is the iconic St Basil’s Cathedral, with its colourful tent roofs and twisting onion shaped domes. Here you will also find the towering red walls of the Kremlin, with the rooftops of palaces and cathedrals peeking over the top. Covering the entire eastern side of the square is the elaborate facade of the glamorous GUM shopping mall. From here head on to the mighty Kremlin for a tour of the grounds. See government buildings, churches and cathedrals, including the Cathedral of the Annunciation - a breathtaking cathedral crowned by gold onion domes. You'll also see the Ivan the Great Bell Tower and its giant tsar bell - the largest bell that never rang!
The rest of the day is free to independently explore. If open, you can pay your respects to the famous Russian Revolutionary at Lenin’s mausoleum. During your time in Moscow, if you'd like to go on a river cruise, attend a Cossack show or perhaps enjoy a night at the ballet this can be arranged in advance upon request.

Today is free for you to spend at leisure or we can book additional sightseeing upon request. Perhaps visit the Tretyakov Gallery which houses the best examples of Russian art, from icons to modern art, including Soviet propaganda paintings, or head 65 metres below ground to visit the Underground Cold War Museum in a formerly top secret Soviet bunker.
If you'd like to shop for souvenirs, the wonderful Izmailovo Market is just a short stroll from your hotel. This sprawling market lies behind the walls of an ancient kremlin and sells everything from matryoshka dolls to fur hats. Don't forget to bargain!
