Beach and Safari Holidays in Africa

Updated: 20th July 2021

You'd be mad to go to Africa and not embark on a safari. The continent is home to some of the world's most majestic creatures, from graceful giraffes to proud lions and lumbering elephants. But safaris can be hard work. So what better way to compliment your wildlife adventure than with a few days of R&R on the beach? From the white sands of Zanzibar to the windswept beaches of Swakopmund in Namibia and the southern point of Africa at Cape Town, there are loads of great options for creating your perfect beach and wildlife journey.

Namibia - Skeleton Coast
Best For: Water sports and adventure

Namibia

Combine the incredible Etosha National Park and the towering sand dunes of the Namib Desert with the popular beach resort of Swakopmund for the ultimate African holiday. Swakopmund's beaches are perfect for relaxing, but the region is also a hub for adrenalin seekers. Surrounded on three sides by the Namib Desert, it is popular with skydivers and hot air balloon enthusiasts, whilst there is always the possibility of an SUV desert safari. Meanwhile, on the coast, surfing, kitesurfing and other water sports are possible thanks to a good breeze, which creates relatively large waves. Nicknamed the Skeleton Coast, many historic shipwrecks can also be spotted along the western coast of Namibia.
